Progress and Decommissioning

Mobile online gamma monitoring to support and document the decommissioning

Around the world, while numerous new nuclear power plants are being built, an increasing number of installations are being decommissioned. Given the large quantities of partially radioactive materials, the dismantling imposes specific requirements in terms of radiation protection and occupational safety. One of the key points in this regard is the complete documentation of protective measures concerning compliance with statutory requirements, public relations and, in particular, the protection of the workforce and the environment.
Brunsbüttel Nuclear Power Plant in Germany is relying on ENVINET's dose rate probes to comply with the applicable limits.

Equipped with an integrated solar and battery power supply, as well as GPS, the mobile gamma dose rate probes, such as MIRA, can be flexibly configured to adapt optimally to the constantly changing operating conditions and sites. Once activated, the probes record the radiation level in their vicinity on an ongoing basis, transmitting all data directly to the NMC monitoring center. This enables the monitoring of specific batches and tasks, thereby facilitating both a rapid response and an extensive, automated assessment and reporting system.
