SARA under the sun of Vietnam

Vietnam is making investments to improve its environmental radiation monitoring in its northern provinces – with SARA’s help.

A new monitoring network is in operation. The exemplary project was launched in 2016. The first step was to send a single SARA test station to one province in Northern Vietnam. Our customer, the Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology (INST), affiliated with the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATOM), was extremely satisfied with the results and subsequently installed a further four SARA stations in four other provinces.

The main purpose of the newly established radiation monitoring system in the North of Vietnam is to monitor and issue an early warning of increased radiation limits in the environment.
The four additional stations have been successfully integrated in the existing NMC monitoring center, which takes care of the continuous monitoring, configuration and early detection alerts. Fitted with a protective sun screen, the probes perform their function reliably, despite the hot climate, keeping INST supplied with current data on an ongoing basis.
